Vanessa & David were on the look out for a wedding photographer for their Bolton School Wedding & so they reached out.
We clicked right on email and meeting face to face for a chat went awesome.
Infact… I’ll put it right over to Vanessa & David themselves…
‘The day finally arrived after what seemed like an eternity of planning, painting and list making – in reality it was only ten months!
David and I met through mutual friends, they had mentioned him in passing and what a joker he was but it wasn’t until fate threw us together that I got to see it for myself. It was evident that there was a spark but I was building myself back up from what can only be described as a dark patch and David was amazing every step of the way. He was patient and caring, trying to understand but mostly was my someone to talk to.
When we had finally got together we very quickly got the biggest but best shock as we found out I was pregnant with Elijah. Being together only a matter of months was daunting but we already knew it was – cheesy as it is – meant to be.
I can’t say it has been a smooth ride, but we loyally stick together through any hard times, making us closer and stronger and our little family is just perfect – or at least we think it is!
When we decided to get married our thought was to have a small, ‘economic’ day with myself and David doing as much as possible ourselves, with the little man around it wasn’t as easy as we thought.
We are not really theme people and aren’t into uniformity. We couldn’t decide on a colour scheme but i do love ivy, berries and thistle, deep rich colours, and so this was sort of what we focused on.
We both love David Bowie which is why we chose our first dance to be to our song which was Absolute Beginners. My mum and auntie made our cake which was a massive four tiers and was decorated with the ivy, we were very grateful. I wanted to use some hurricane vases I had already for the centrepieces and so to make them more colourful painted them with different designs. We put candles inside with moss and wrapped ivy round the bottom so it had almost a Labryinth/Secret Garden look, people have now taken them home for decorations as they liked them so much.
My bridesmaid Gemma made our monkey cake toppers and the telephone style card box which looked great, she knows us too well to question why we wanted them, it’s just expected that we wouldn’t take things too seriously.
Unfortunately Dave’s dad could not be with us due to ill health and neither could a few treasured family members so we set up a table with photographs of absent friends and family so that they were there with us anyway if not in body!
I walked down the aisle to another of our favourite songs (John Denver – Annies Song) as we wanted it to be personal and not just a standard tune, it couldn’t have been more fitting or emotional!
The venue of Bolton School was chosen for the reception because i have always loved the building and when Dave saw it he thought it was perfect, we had the wedding ceremony at St Bartholomew’s first in the village where we live. We just wanted a relaxed day and that is exactly what we got. We didn’t stop dancing and had plenty of champagne to help keep us going.
The weather didn’t matter, the minor bits like forgetting my lace cuffs i had made for my outfit, not using the iPod we had done for the meal, me falling outside the church because i wore ridiculous sized heals, forgetting my flat shoes so i had to go barefoot, none of it mattered. I can honestly say it was perfect and the best bit is I am now Mrs Bassnett!
After all life’s trials and tribulations kismet brought me and Dave together, it may have taken years of being ships passing in the night but it was all worth it!
Priti, you were wonderful and we were over the moon with how well you fitted in with the day and just went with the flow. You have done a lovely job and we were lucky to have found you!
You worked incredibly hard all day and must have been shattered but we were so grateful for every snap you took, capturing all the parts we missed!’
Thank you so much to Vanessa & David for having me be a part of your big day & I wish you all the love and success in the world ?
