Wedding Planning Tips

Many couples take the next big step and propose during the festive season and so I thought it’s a great time to share some wedding planning tips.

What better way than to combine a proposal when all your closest family and friends are all in one place right?

Heading into the new year with wedding planning on the agenda is super exciting and something to look forward to!

Having been a bride to be myself & worked with so many couples ranging from those who are neck deep into their wedding planning to those who have just done the proposal, I have a few wedding planning tips that you may find useful to help you along with the ‘ok, what’s next’ phase.

Weddings these days have fewer and fewer fashion rules because couples are just more progressive than they used to be. Some brides are passing up traditional gowns for elegant pants, the occasional groom is skipping the typical black tux for a pastel suit, and even bridesmaids are ditching the cookie-cutter dresses for something they can wear over and over again. You know what that means? Guests *also* have just as much freedom with their styles.

But before you whip out your favorite pair of jeans and call it a day, there are a few things to remember while getting dressed in order to still be respectful of the ceremony and the people getting married and you can get custom t-shirt labels for your special day. Some of the rules are pretty straightforward and easy to follow—like what colors to avoid—while others require a little more outfit planning—like figuring out what the heck “beach-formal attire” means.

Wedding Venues

If you have an idea of the aesthetic you want for your wedding venue, that’s a great start! A lot of venues are booked up a year or 2 years in advance so it’s a great idea to write down the style you envision for your day and then jot down some venues that may come to mind. Start sending the wedding venues an email to enquire about pricing, dates and availability so you can book a time to go and visit the space if it meets your requirements.

Hair & Makeup

If you plan to have your makeup done by a make-up artist on the wedding, it’s worth starting to research into the style of make-up you want to have done and also researching suppliers in the area. There are a lot of wedding blogs which list suppliers so that could be a great starting point or referrals if you know of anyone who got hitched recently!

Wedding Photographer & Videographer

Wedding photographers and videographers are booked up a year to 2 years in advance, maybe even 3 sometimes! Google search is a great starting point but do take your time and go through the pages – Just because someone is ranking number 1 on the search engine doesn’t mean that it’s the perfect fit! Take some time and go through at least the first 10 results pages and research the photographers styles and if you like the look of the work, get the ball rolling and drop them an email.

Most of all, have fun wit the wedding planning and don’t let anyone take the fun out it for you!

If you’re looking for a Manchester Wedding Photographer or a North West Wedding Photographer who is also available for Destination weddings – Shoot me an email here – I would love to hear from you!
