A few weeks ago I met up with this lovely family for a relaxed pre wedding photoshoot at Fletcher Moss Park in Didsbury, and honestly, it couldn’t have been a more perfect autumn afternoon.
Their wedding is coming up next October, so this session was a really lovely way for us to get to know each other properly before the big day – and even more special because the kids were involved too. I always love it when couples include their children in a pre wedding shoot because it makes the photographs feel even more personal and meaningful.
I’m so looking forward to shooting C+ R’s autumn / winter wedding next year and so this was a fantastic session for us all to meet and work together before the big day!
The Magic of Autumn Family Photos at Fletcher Moss Park

The light is softer, warmer, and more flattering than during the midday hours. For this pre-wedding family session, we were lucky enough to be at the right spot at just the right time, allowing us to take full advantage of that magical golden light albeit it was much earlier on in the day!
The soft, golden hues perfectly complemented the rich autumn colors around us. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the family embraced each other, sharing candid moments of love and laughter. These types of moments are exactly why pre-wedding family sessions are so special.

The whole session felt more like a relaxed family walk than a photoshoot, which is exactly how I like these shoots to be. No awkward posing, no pressure – just spending time together, letting the kids run around, have fun, and capturing all those genuine little moments in between.
The children absolutely loved exploring the woodland paths and open spaces around Fletcher Moss Gardens, and those unplanned moments always end up becoming some of my favourite photographs. The cuddles, the laughter, the little hand holds, and the chaos that naturally comes with family life – that’s what makes images feel real and timeless.
Family Photography Sessions that Feel Relaxed and Real
One of the reasons I always recommend outdoor family photography in Manchester is because children instantly feel more relaxed outside. They can move freely, play naturally, and forget there’s even a camera there. It creates photographs that feel authentic rather than overly posed.
For this pre wedding family session, we kept everything very relaxed and natural. We spent time walking through the gardens, stopping whenever the light looked beautiful, and capturing a mixture of candid moments together as a family alongside some quieter moments for the couple before their wedding later next year.
October weddings are honestly some of my favourites to photograph too. The autumn colours, softer light, and cosy atmosphere always make wedding photographs feel incredibly warm and cinematic, so after this session I’m even more excited for their wedding day.
