How To Get The Best Wedding Photos & Portraits
One of the things which pop up time and time again during consultations with couples, is how to get the best wedding photos & portraits.
Yes, it can be sometimes daunting but mostly, it’s a relaxed and fun time for the couple to spend some one on one time and let loose for the camera.
During the portrait session, I love my couples to really enjoy their time in front of the lens!
Natural
We shoot the portrait session as naturally as possible and where I feel you may need some direction to get the right shapes for the photos, I’ll go ahead and direct you a little so we get the best photos possible.
Loosen Up
I know, I know, you’re thinking ‘easier said than done’ but don’t worry, your photographer is there to help you do just that!
Remember you both just got married, let that emotion flow & really try and be present in the moment. My advice is always to shake yourself off (Taylor Swift got it right!), breathe, and just let your body relax & enjoy being with your other half.
Have A Laugh
Yep, when you’re relaxed and having a laugh, it really shows in the photos. You know your partner better than anyone else so make them laugh (secretly if needs be!), it helps to create some really natural photos during the session.
Take Your Time
When I work with couples, most of them really want beautiful wedding portraits on the wedding day. With this in mind, I always recommend allocating a specific amount of time for the session. This allows the photographer to really get into the creative zone and work one on one with the couple to create the best wedding portraits possible for you. Remember, these wedding portraits will be with you for the rest of your life so it’s well worth investing the time.
Get Away From It All
No-one wants to really be in front of a big crowd whilst trying to get intimate portraits, right? So this is the perfect time to slip away with your partner and photographer. Take the time during the session to go away and create something special. Maybe your photographer has already done a location scout of the venue and suggested some areas, or maybe you have hired a wedding car to jump into to head into the city with!
Enjoy it!
Above everything else, enjoy this time with your partner, have fun, enjoy it and trust that your photographer you hired will do the best job possible. You hired them for a reason afterall.
