Castlefield Canals – A Manchester Favourite
Castlefield is one of those places that never goes out of style.
With its historic canals, cobbled bridges and converted warehouses, it feels romantic without trying too hard. It’s also one of my favourite places to photograph couples because every corner offers a slightly different backdrop whether it be for wedding portraits, or a proposal session with dramatic backdrops.
If you’re hoping for a quieter proposal, I’d recommend an early morning. If you’re dreaming of warm golden light, sunset is always beautiful here.

Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens – Peaceful and Romantic
If your perfect date involves coffee, long walks and being surrounded by nature, Fletcher Moss is definitely worth considering.
Hidden away in Didsbury, it’s one of Manchester’s loveliest green spaces. There are winding paths, colourful flowers, little bridges and plenty of quiet corners if you’d rather keep your proposal intimate.
Every season looks different here, which is one of the reasons I love photographing couples in this location. Spring blossoms are beautiful, while autumn brings incredible warm colours.
It’s the sort of place where you can completely forget you’re still in Manchester.

John Rylands Library – For Couples Who Love History
If you’re both book lovers or appreciate beautiful architecture, John Rylands Library offers something completely different.
The Gothic design feels almost cinematic and creates an unforgettable setting.
Even if you choose to propose nearby rather than inside, the surrounding streets are full of character and make lovely backdrops for photographs afterwards.
Cloud 23 – Pop the Question Above the Manchester Skyline
If you’re looking for something a little more luxurious, Cloud 23 is hard to beat.
Watching the sun set over Manchester while the city lights begin to appear is pretty magical.
It’s ideal if you’re planning to celebrate afterwards with a glass of champagne and a meal together.

Heaton Park – Perfect for Outdoor Lovers
Some couples don’t want crowds or busy streets.
They just want somewhere peaceful.
Heaton Park has beautiful lakes, woodland, gardens and open spaces, so it’s easy to find somewhere that feels like your own little corner of the park.
If your weekends usually involve walking the dog, exploring new places or getting outdoors together, this could be exactly the right setting.
Northern Quarter – Full of Personality
Not every proposal needs flowers and gardens.
If your relationship revolves around independent coffee shops, live music, record stores and wandering colourful streets together, the Northern Quarter might feel much more like home.
The street art, old brick buildings and creative atmosphere make every photograph feel uniquely Manchester.
It’s one of those locations where your personalities really shine through.
Mayfield Park – Manchester’s Newest Hidden Gem
One of my newer favourite locations is Mayfield Park.
Just a few minutes from Piccadilly Station, it somehow manages to feel calm and peaceful despite being right in the city centre.
The riverside paths, gardens and open green spaces give you lots of different options for photographs without needing to travel far.
It’s especially lovely on a summer evening.
