This type of photography, is one of the most popular in the industry.
It’s the type I absolutely love to shoot at weddings & my couples love it too.
Candid wedding photography,or the term documentary wedding photography,simply means that the photographer captures the photos with no interruptions.
We photograph the moments as they happen, and just get on with it.
This style of photography is popular as it really captures the essence of the day in an unobtrusive way.
I mean, have you noticed how people freeze up when you ask to take their photo?
Awkward….
Although 90% of the day can be photographed in a documentary style, there are some parts of the day which have to be co-ordinated.This is usually the formals and the bride & groom portraits (should you choose to have these done).Even then, the old school posed for images aren’t what they use to be.
One of the best things about documentary wedding photography is that it allows the photographer to photo moments across the day, that when pulled together after the wedding, will go on to tell the story of your day little by little.
As someone who has been a bride & who had hired a documentary photographer, I was glad I did. There was so much of the day we missed, that we are so thankful to have all these photos to look back on.
